Shadow a Falconer for the day

Going “backstage” and learning exactly what one of our falconers does throughout the day is what this experience is all about. You will be working alongside our staff throughout opening hours for the day and will be helping out in all general duties including Cleaning the aviaries, weighing the birds of prey ready for their public flying displays, food preparation and general maintenance around the falconry centre.

Then it’s onto practical falconry, where you will be taught how to tie the falconer’s knot, picking up and putting down a bird of prey safely onto a perch and general bird husbandry and welfare.

When you’ve got to grips with the basics, you can help the Coda Falconry team to fly birds throughout the day and give them the vital exercise that they need in order to maintain good health.

You can also be involved in our public flying demonstrations, where you will use your knowledge that you have gained throughout the day and help our falconers to fly some of our birds to a public audience for 30 minutes each demonstration. If being public-facing isn’t for you, that’s no problem at all – you can watch the demonstrations from our VIP area in the main falconry arena.

Please note, Lunch is not included; however, there are Cafe facilities on the site and you are welcome to bring your own food and drink. Guests on this experience will have a short break in order to use the facilities and buy refreshments if need be.

Experience duration; 10am until 4pm which will also include a lunch break
