A falconry experience gives guests the chance to learn about birds of prey, meet selected birds up close, and, depending on the experience booked, fly birds to the gloved hand under the guidance of the Coda Falconry team. Some experiences may include hawks, falcons, buzzards, owls or ravens, depending on the booking, weather and the welfare of the birds.
On all of our experience days, guests can handle or fly birds of prey under supervision from the highly experiences falconry team. The exact birds and activities depend on the experience booked, the weather, and the welfare of the birds on the day. This is worth adding because “do you get to hold the birds?” is likely one of the biggest conversion questions.

Yes. Coda Falconry experience vouchers make a memorable gift for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day or any other special occasions. Vouchers can be purchased online and used to book one of our bird of prey experiences.
Experience times vary depending on the experience you choose. Shorter experiences may last around one to two hours, while our more in-depth experiences, such as Shadow a Falconer for the Day, run from 10am until 4pm. Please check the individual experience page before booking.
Coda can cater for a maximum of 6 experience day guests within a group.
Yes. Spectators are welcome, and spectator passes can be purchased for friends or family who would like to come along and watch. Spectator passes include access to Hobbledown Heath, making it easy to turn the experience into a full day out.
Many of our experiences are suitable for children, but age restrictions vary depending on the activity. Guests must be at least 8 years old to fly the birds, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Please check the individual experience page before booking.
Yes. We recommend comfortable outdoor clothing and sensible footwear such as trainers and walking boots in the summer months and wellies or waterproof shoes in the winter months, as our experiences involve walking or standing outside. Please dress for the weather and avoid anything too delicate, as you will be close to our birds who may land on your clothing and we do fly our birds in rugged, natural surroundings and outdoor surfaces.
No. Any specialist equipment needed for your experience will be provided by the Coda Falconry team. You just need to arrive ready to enjoy the experience.
Yes, visitors are welcome to take photos around the bird of prey centre. During experiences, our team will let you know when it is safe and appropriate to take photos, especially when birds are being handled or flown.
Falconry is an outdoor activity, so weather can affect some parts of the experience. The welfare of our birds always comes first, and activities may be adjusted if conditions are not suitable for flying. If severe weather affects your booking, the team will advise you on the best next steps and if we do need to cancel your booking due to extreme weather, we will re-book you onto the next available slot.
Our birds are living animals, so the birds involved in displays or experiences may vary depending on their health, mood, training, weather conditions and welfare needs. We always prioritise the birds’ wellbeing and only ask them to do what they are happy with and this really can change on a daily basis! If you have a particular bird of prey that you would like to see or interact with, please let us know prior to your experience and we will do everything we can to ensure that you meet your favourite flying team member on the day or that you meet a similar bird of prey if required.
We have a strict 24-hour notice period for cancellations on experience days. If you cannot attend, you must contact us before your booking date. If you do not attend and have not contacted us, we will not be able to re-book your experience. Please see our full terms and conditions for more information.
Experience day vouchers are non-refundable, so please check the experience details, age restrictions and suitability before purchasing.
Yes. Hobbledown Heath has café and dining facilities where visitors can buy lunch, snacks and drinks during their visit.
Lunch is not usually included unless stated on the individual experience page. Café facilities are available on site, and guests may also bring their own food and drink.
